You just have to wonder if this may help explain the recent stalled Euro-launch...

Oppo BDP-83SE, just announced in the States. Perhaps the Oppo people have had their minds on other things (ie this) of late...?

Not AFAICS: new model has what's claimed to be a significantly upgraded analogue audio output section, will sell alongside the standard one, carries a $400 price premium over the standard one's $499.

Could they have been bettering John Lewis and unknowingly undersold the original till the Marketing Dept realised what potential margins they were missing out on in the light of the competition.

hmm if this player ever arrives here, there will be several better players at the same price, if cheaper.....(my opinion)

I would imagine the upgrades will be of limited benefit to most as I would imagine the majority will be using HDMI to an AV amp, and so bypassing the Oppo SE's onboard DAC.

Having heard the difference with pioneer blu ray player's and good onboard DAC's it certainly does benefit.
