Hi,

I was about to buy Lg HT953TV home theatre system but now I've decided to buy an AV Receiver & Separate Speakers (7.1). I am now looking forward to buy Onkyo TX-SR805 AV Receiver, Polk Audio Monitor 50 Floorstanding Speakers (150 X 8 ohms), 2 pairs of Polk Audio Monitor 30 Bookself Speakers (100 X 8 ohms), Polk Audio CS 1 Centre Channel (125 X 8 ohms) & Polk Audio PSW 12 Subwoofer. As far as the power is concerned do you think the speaker's mentioned above are a perfect match for the Onkyo TX-SR805 AV Receiver? If not then please suggest me a 7.1 speaker setup. Thanks!!!

The '805 is an old model, are you buying new, or used? if you are buying used, be careful, older models have a problem with a capacitor that means it has to be returned to the Onkyo service centre for repair, there is also a DSP update and a firmware update that should be carried out.

If youre buying new, or reconditioned, the supplier should have this all carried out for you, but best checking 🙂

Ok then will those polk audio speakers gonna match with Onkyo TX-SR806?

what age did this problem effect the 805? not had any issues with mine yet.

Polk speakers, not many in the UK so you may not get an answer.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but on the '805, there is a capacitor problem on certain models (there is a serial number range), which means back to the Service centre. There are also a couple of problems, ie a "popping" noise when switching between modes and also something else which i cant remember lol. These can be remedied with a firmware update, which, depending on your Firmware version, can be done yourself, or may have to go back to the service centre.

I am having mine picked up on Wednesday to go back to "Genserve" which are Onkyo's service centre in the UK
