I have the 606 being fed by Sky HD to a Panasonic PZ85 and the picture is absolutely fantastic in HD, also pretty good in SD and all with the upscaling on the Amp set to through. The picture on the TV states it's receiving 576i on normal standard def TV and when I set the Amp to auto upsclae it does not change.

My question is if I set the Amp to upscale to say 1080i sholud I always see that on the TV input when you press i on the remote ?

I'm basically assuring my self that the upscaling feature of the Amp is working properly beecause as it stands I see no noticeable difference between through or Auto, or I guess the TV / Sky HD box do a good job anyway.

Thanks

I'd say so too.....Does the 606 upscale yeah ?

I have the same problem actually - the cable box have here in Thailand outputs into my Marantz at 576i, which I can seem to upconvert to 576p (not that I can seem to notice much difference), but I can't for the life of me seem to be able to output it any higher with upscaling, yet I thought the 8002 did it......

606 upconverts all signals to hdmi. This is definatlely a question of upscaling and why the TV is not displaying the upscaled 1080i signal when the amp is set to say 1080i upscaling.

I know, the receiver has to upconvert to send the TV signal via HDMI, why it doesn't seem to be scaling I don't know.

Do you have the Sky HD box set to auto, 720p or 1080i? It needs to be set to auto for the Onkyo to overide it. However, the HD box might be a better upscaler.

Sky HD set to Auto and Onk set to 1080i still says 576i on TV for standard def. Therefore I would expect TV to indicate 1080i or am I expecting too much.
