What exactly did you or indeed the people who set up this commission (edit: that should say "petition") expect? HMG are right, it's none of their business, if they DID get involved you'd probably have just as large a group of people protesting at "government interference" in the BBC!

If you want to complain, complain to the right people, the BBC Trust, you're just wasting your energy otherwise.

Nevertheless you must have some interest in the subject otherwise you wouldn't have posted it. Anyway I did say "or the people that created the petition" so the general question still stands.

Yes, I understood your point the first time, the general question still stands however, as does my general point, that this petition was a complete waste of time and was never going to achieve anything.

Hi JD
I'm somewhat mystified by the whole thing.

As you are someone who's opinion I respect, could you enlighten me as to which word, words or combination of words has caused this avalanche?

I'm just glad I'm not a News Presenter. After a typical day representing facts yesterday, I would have needed an armed police escort home. ;-)

Hi the_lhc

Sadly I have neither the wealth nor magical abilities of Paul Daniels, so I cannot conjuer something that does not exist out of thin air.
