And you've only gone and put the honey of the moment on the front cover of the October issue. Arguably, this is the best one ever and I haven't even opened it up yet...!

I know - Jon 'Don Draper' Hamm is gorgeous, isn't he? 🙂

Er...I mean, er...I was thinking more la Hendricks, but point taken!

Teeny tiny query - the all-in-one system shootout lists the Marantz 603's amp at 60w, which is true if rated at 6ohms, but it's a 40 watter at 8 ohms. I know Marantz quote this higher figure themselves which doesn't help, but does this mean there's a creeping trend towards this rating as the benchmark (and given that many AV amps quote to 6ohms as well usually)?

Glad to hear it - the team worked really hard to pack in the exclusives this issue. Thanks 🙂

What's new in the October issue? What's the exclusive stuff you talk about ?

Lots of first reviews of products, ranging from Monitor Audio's new i-deck iPod dock through to the new Q Acoustics 7000 speaker package, NAD C446 music streamer, Wharfedale Jade stereo speakers, Sony STR-DH820 AV receiver and much much more.... Plus exclusive analysis and features, too.

More info and page previews on Wednesday when the issue goes on sale.

Not so much a creeping trend, as us trying to keep a level playing field by quoting the power of the systems by the same (rather liberally measured) criteria for each product, as in common with systems of this kind.

In fact the Marantz quotes

Rated output
(1 kHz, total harmonic distortion 0.7 %, 8 Ω) 40 W + 40 W
(1 kHz, total harmonic distortion 0.7 %, 6 Ω) 50 W + 50 W

Effective maximum output
(1 kHz, total harmonic distortion 10 %, 8 Ω) 50 W + 50 W
(1 kHz, total harmonic distortion 10 %, 6 Ω) 60 W + 60 W

Thanks. I'll get my copy approx one week after the issue goes on sale in the UK. Is it possible for you to atleast tell which models are tested in the 40''- 42" TV Supertest.?

Okay. Thanks. I was expecting Sharp's 40-LE835 in this test. But no matter. Thanks again.

My subscription has ran out, what is the current offer in the mag? I can't wait until tomorrow to find out!!! The bargain hunter in me would like a cable of some sort. Last month was a headphone amp (if I remember right)

Thanks guys!!

Thanks for that - we will investigate. All issues go out from wholesale with clear dates on boxes re when to be put out, but that may be being overlooked when they see the 'October' date. We can contact them anyhow....
