Please go gentle on me as I'm both new to this forum and HC.

At present we are in the middle of renovating the lounge and SWMBO has approved a HC setup but on a limited budget. My cunning plan is to buy a Tv (Panasonic TH-42PZ81 freesat) and a Panasonic DMP-DB35 Blu-ray. then later add an amp and speakers. The budget for amp and speakers would be about £250 each. So please suggestions if you could.

I was going to suggest the same double act! I've had the Jamos and they are ridiculously good for the money (you can get them for under £200 if you shop around).

Or there's the Onkyo/Kef combo but would be a little over budget...

There's no point buying an 820 just for a cheap style system. It would make more sense to pair it with something like the Tannoy Mercury F Customs or buy a cheaper amp and save some money.
