Sorry if this sounds a bit stupid, but I have never set anything like this up before.

I'm trying to set up a PS3 slim & Sky HD box to my Samsung tv. The tv has one HDMI input & I'm think about replacing my old LG surround sound with an Onkyo TX-SR507B AV Receiver but using the speakers that came with the LG as a temporary cost-cutting measure (limited budget) & using the hdmi inputs on the Onkyo.

My question is:

I don't see a connection for a sub woofer speaker on the Onkyo - is there anyway I can connect the sub woofer? Or maybe I don't need it? Or am I missing some point?

Cheers in advance

Ah, yes... I see it... missed that connection on first look. Thanks very much for your prompt response.

The LG, btw, is an LH-T550TB - I'm guessing that the speakers will be "OK" for the time being (they have to be...lol), but I intend to upgrade them later this year.

Once again, thanks for your help

The LG uses a passive subwoofer, driven from the main unit's amplification. The Onkyo needs to be used with an active subwoofer - ie one with a built-in amplifier - so the LG sub can't be used with the Onkyo receiver.

The main speakers will be fine, as they are 8ohm impedance - many systems of this kind use speakers of much lower impedance, which can give AV receivers' output stages problems - but I'm afraid the subwoofer is a no-no.
