New system mixing speakers and sub

I am hoping someone will be able to offer some advice as I am setting up a new system and am new to Home Cinema.

I am considering the Sony STR1200ES amp, with KEF iQ5 floorstanders, the iQ2C center and iQ1 rears. I have been offered a Wharfedale Diamond SW150 or SW250 sub. Can anyone tell me whether this sound like the basis of a good system, or offer any advice on alternatives. Thanks.

No problem at all mixing a subwoofer from one brand with speakers of another. I'd suggest you go for the SW250, as it offers more power and greater bass extension, and will thus better complement the KEFs on the front channels.

Bear in mind too that there's a revised version of the KEF IQ5s on the way - the new IQ5SE speakers look very promising indeed.
