New speakers or adding a sub woofer

My current set up is a Cambridge Audio Azur 550 amp powering a pair of Eltax Concept 180 speakers. It handles mid range and treble adequately but it lacks quite a bit in the bass regions so I intend to upgrade.

My budget is around £200-£250 so I am in a bit of a dilemma - would I be better investing in a sub-woofer or blowing all of my budget in a better pair of speakers than the Eltax 180's? Also, whichever option I take what would folks recommend as suitable kit in that price range?

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Dynaudio DM 2/6 loudspeakers might fit into your budget, but I'm not sure how much extra bass it'll be compared to your current speakers.

Edit:

Oops, if it is your _total_ budget and not budget pr. speaker, then the Dynaudio's will be out of your reach.

Monitor Audio BX 1 and BX 2 are both within your budget.

They've gotten a lot of praise in reviews.

I've only listened to BX 1 myself, and I was caught by surprise as to how well they sounded. :)

I don't remember how the bass in particular sounded, though.

The speaker just sounded very well overall.

Unfortunately, it's the total budget which is why I'm thinking of just adding the sub woofer but thanks anway
