Hi there, a few weeks ago i asked some questions about buying a new system to replace my Intempo Tower; http://www.lordpercy.com/intempo_ifi01_ipod_tower.htm I was thinking about buying the Roth System because it was specially made for the iPod but some great advice on this site and i started looking at buying seperates instead. I was in richer sounds and they do a Amp, Speakers & iPod Dock for £200. http://www.richersounds.com/information.php?cda=static&cst=hifisystems My question is, will i notice the difference between my current intempo tower and the seperates?? And are the seperates any good? ("Cambridge Audio S30" speakers & "Cambridge Audio A5" Amplifier? thanks

The separates should be better but it all depends on your budget. If you can spend more then you get more is a general rule. The marantz 6002 series at £200 a piece from richer sounds is good. I prefer the RA-05 but is £100 more. Add £200 for speakers, possibly BR-02 and £100 for an interconnect and speaker cable then you get to £700 without buying a rack. Do you even use cd? Go for apple lossless and put it through the amp and you will have a good sound albeit not as good as a cd player? Are your downloads from apple? If so then a cd would be far better in quality.

I'm buying the CD's then encoding them as apple lossless. I'm thinking of connecting my spare PC to the AMP so i can sit the monitor on top and navigate itunes using the arrow keys, therefor can you buy a soundcard that plugs into the amp rather than just the aux/earphone socket? (or am i just better buying a ipod dock) I thought at that price £200 how could i resist, but if the sound isn[t much better than the tower i have now maybe not..?
