Rega announces the new Saturn R CD player with built in DAC!

"The accommodation of external sources on the Saturn-R are handled by two optical inputs, two 75 Ohm coaxial inputs and a galvanically isolated, asynchronous XMOS USB input — each of which handle up to 24bit/192kHz PCM streams. Supervising the decode on the inside is a pair of Wolfson WM8742 which in turn provide user-selectable digital filters."

I've read this in Rega web page, "SATURN-R XMOS USB DRIVER V2.15.0[/b]

Before you can use the USB function of the Saturn–R you must first download the Rega USB Windows driver and install it on your PC."

An for server users as I'm do I need the driver as well?

I'm going to visit my Rega dealer to ask him about this...

I am off to listen to one on Saturday when I drop some cables off!

Must admit I am half tempted - wonder how it compares with the Apollor R & DAC?

yes i wonder how it compares. based on quick glace looks to be similar internals with exception of usb. unless usb is key, i would not upgrade to saturn-r from an apollo r + dac, but i'm still saving to upgrade to either Elicit-r or Naim XS / XS2.

Elicit R & Nait XS2 both great amps, I demoed both together found then both very musical, perhaps the Naim was a bit thicker on the bass - the omission of a phono Stage on the Nait made it less favourable over the Elicit R.
