Unlike the out going RS line, the new RX series will have two standmounters. The larger RX2 will have an 8" driver. Specs state bass down to 40hz, wow!

These new speakers are gorgeous. The drivers appear to be mounted with no screws or mounting hardware showing on the front. Also, the grills must be magnetic since I see no grill mounting holes... Awesome!

Hi jw

They look even better in Piano Black.

Mr. E was the first to bring the 'breaking news' of RX series from MA here with his blog and lots of photos, and since then am hooked to WHFSV site for Mr. E or Ms. C to bring the 'World Exclusive Review' on RX series.

I actually like the new white finish they're doing - I think white is going to be the surprise colour for 2010 (mark my words, you heard it here first!!) - and it doesn't show up scratches like gloss black either......

First up are the RX6 floorstanders. They get the First Test treatment in the November issue (o/s 16th September).

be sure that there is going to be some comparison to the rs6's. please🙂

They're huge! I walked into the demo room this morning exoecting to see something not too much bigger than an RX1, but these are like the big bokshelf speakers from the late 80's/early 90's!

Looking forward to this, The MA Silver series is on the short list of speaker packages to look at when I get released from the "baby budget".

And how do they sound?

Yes someone must have heard them by now (Frank? Rick?)

I am interested by someone (at last) putting a bass/mid bigger than a disposable plastic cup into a stand-mount - or even a floorstander - especially as the RX2's are only £500.

(Even the new RX8's don't get 8" units.)

Either this was a mistake (did MA get the dimensions wrong when ordering a truckload of 6" drivers and decide to make a speaker to fit them rather than scrap them?) or this could be a really good idea, a stand-mount with decent bass for once.

Hopefully the latter.

Decent bass? the RX1 are the same size as the RS1 and the RS1 have more than more than enough bass, maybe lacking something in the mids.....I wonder why they made the RX2....

Chebby, you should audition the Dyn Excite stand mounters some time. Even the little X12 with a 5.5" driver will put some stand mounters to shame. Fantastic bass. My X16s have a 7" driver and it puts most stand mounters to shame.

Hi chebby

The RX2's build upon the strenghts of the already superb RX1's.

The RX2's mid range is clearer, more dynamic and offers (wait for it) significantly greater bass depth and punch than the RX1's.

The RX2's deep bass feels like it's coming from a floorstander!

I have listened to the RX2's with amps from Chord Electronics, NAD, Yamaha, ATC and Naim. They have coped admirably with the onslaught and have also given some back. WITH INTEREST!

If anyone can accomodate them than go for it as they are only £100 over the RX1's.

The RX2's. Speakers that are fun and with attitude. I like. BARGAIN.

Thanks

so midrange better than the RX1..but by far? I think the bass on the RS1 is a bit overblown...a bit more than the rs6...if the RX2 as more controled bass ..then...fine!

Rick, how's the new tweeter ? I had the RS1 but couldn't live with the unpleasant highs. Also the bass was not the best, a bit boomy and not tight enough.

It's looking like I'm going to either buy the RX2, B&W 685, or Paradigm Studio 20 in the next month or two. Can't wait to do the comparison!

The new tweeter is awesome, imo. A lot better than the RS series (which had overbearing highs).

The iQ30 is quite a different sound. If people are looking for more detail in the mid and treble, I'd say the iQ30's will suit better. Because the RX2's have a fuller, warmer sound, this makes them more of a pleasing listen to most people.

I saw these in the flesh for the first time today and I was certainly impressed. Only problem is I am now determined to wait for the GX2 to be released, they will be awsome I reckon.
