New Ipod Shuffle

Looks neat.

Note that the controls are on the ear bud cable. Anyone know if there is any provision to plug your own head phones in. I've never been keen on the Apple ones.

We've been wondering the same thing. Apparently the Sennheiser MM50 headphones may work with the new Shuffle, but we haven't been able to test it yet. Will be a major pain if you can't upgrade the standard Apple buds, which are usually pretty average.

Yep, I was with Sennheiser yesterday when this news hit - first Sennheiser knew of the new Shuffle, too!

Sennheiser thinks its headphones that feature iPod-compatiible in-line controls - such as the MM50 - will work with the Shuffle, but can't be sure until they test them out. Apple keeps all this stuff so secret-squirrel....

I read that Apple will be releasing a dongle with the controls on it for other headphones.

I'm not sure about this, I think I'd get annoyed having this voice in my head all the time. Why do you need to be told the name of the songs you put on there in the first place?
