Can I use this with my hi fi Cambridge Audio amp, does not seem to work,can hear sound from stylus?

I'm not familiar with that amp (you don't state the model). Does it have a phono input? If not, you'll need a pre-amp.

Just to add, I can only imagine it's the wiring that carries the signal, so I guess it's that that's causing the problem. Thinking about it, it might also be the cartridge. Check for loose/removed connections.

Fairly certain the CA5 amp has no phono stage.
