Just got an sys-390 ht denon sound system but I am confused as to how I will connect the amp to the soundcard.

My xfi has a 5.1Ch (3.5mm) jacks available.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Would using one of these cables work?

Connect the RCA to the "AUX audio in L+R"

Connect the stereo jack to the headphone jack of the soundcard(green)

You can use that cable, just connect it to the 'front' input on the Denon and the green' front' jack on the souncard or, better still, use three of the cables and connect the surround, centre and sub connectors in the same way, then you can have surround sound from the card (if you have a 5.1 speaker set up).

So I buy two more of these cables and connect them accordingly to the surround sound on the xfi? Then set my xfi to 5.1

Should I also just set my xfi to 5.1 and turn off EQ/ any other fluff?

Connecting them to the ext in would not bypass the amp right?Sorry but I am very bad at audio.

Also when I connect the 3.5m jack to another slot of my soundcard i have no sound (The RCA is connected correctly)

I connected 6 phono to the ext.in and 3 3.5jacks into the soundcard.

I only get sound from the front speakers.Rear, sub and center do not work
