Hi, I'm badly in need of some expert advice for my particular needs. I work from home and want high quality hi-fi audio for my office desk.
I had a small NAD D3020 and was not impressed at all though most rave about it. The sources and connections are awsome but sound wise I was a little disappointed. Maybe the problem was/is my room, source, speakers etc. Not sure. Anyways, it died. So now I'd like to replace with something "better", if anything beats it in its price range.
My needs/priorities: Nearfield listening only, Low volume mainly so want something good at that, something with a rich, full, laid-back sound.
Current speakers: wall hung Focal Chorus 605 which I just loved the laid back, rich sound of when they were paired with a little Yamaha CRX-N470 so looking to get that back. I also have a Speedwoofer MKII 10s.
I do have Focal Arias 906 lying around too that I "could" put on my desk if you recommend, but those are quite large.
Main music genres: 60% classical/instrumental, 40% everything else imaginable.
Sources: Some FLAC CDs and some Youtube Music Premium/Tidal/Spotify
Any recommendations? I do like Schiit Audio stuff but there doesn't seem to be a way to have a simple setup for passive speakers (I think I'd need to purchase like a whole stack) I don't need much in the way of extras. If there is a headphone jack, great, but other than that, no need for multiple sources, wifi etc etc.

For a similar price to the NAD, you will struggle to beat the Marantz PM6007, if size is an issue, the Mission 778x is excellent. I haven't heard a Rotel A8 but by reputation they are good. Or for a little bit more, the Arcam A5 is great.
