Asmore, with your receiver being used as your amp for cd purposes, you will not get as good sound as you would using a designated stereo amp. Therefore, do not spend much on your cdp. I would look at the budget Marantz, Cambridge Audio and maybe Sony cd players. Go second hand and don't spend more than £100.

Some alternatives, depending on your budget, so apologies for making any presumption here, but NAD C515BEE at £159 or Cambridge Audio 340C for around £150 are two to consider.

If that's a little too high, Tangent have their CDP100 player which is about £80. Don't pooh-pooh this too much; Tangent enjoy a decent reputation and produce some good products for the smaller budget, so this one might be worth a listen.
