NAS with squeezecenter?

I'm pretty sure the latest software for the Netgear ReadyNAS features squeezecenter.....

Thanks Guys,

I quite like a QNAP (similiar to my current buffalo linkstation) as it's not as big as readynas.

Beware of updating QNAP firmware to 2.1 in order to have QPKG, qhich is needed to set up squeezecenter. My TS-109 came with an older version as explained in one of the links from my previous post.

Try 'ripcasters' website, they sell several NAS devices with software installed.

Apologies for arriving late to this thread. If you haven't purchased one already, try Scan.co.uk, but i not sure if they come with SC7 installed. If not, it is very easy to download and install on a QNAP
Also,It will be cheaper to buy the SATA hdd separate from a computer fair and install yourself, again, very easy to do. 2min job. Waldo has kindly provided the link to my thread for that

I paid £178 for a for the QNAP TS-109 (incl Del), £40 for a 500gb SATA hdd and some time. £279 for the same setup from Ripcaster, even more at the time of my purchase.

Compare the prices for yourself

Hope this helps

Waldo: was my thread any help to you in setting up the TS-109?

Hi Hendy00,

your thread was of great help to me. I went for a Duet + QNAP TS-109.ÿReason for duet was the smaller receiver.

Thanks to you I went straight to QNAP firmware upgrade instead of going mad searching for the QPKG optionÿ

I live in Barcelona and was not able to find a QNAP retailer but e-mailed QNAP and they answered fast providing a local contact

The TS-109 looks pretty and very well manufactured. Installing a hard drive was a breeze ( I used a 500GB Western Digital Caviar Green)

Once setup everything, performance of Squeezebox Duet was very bad, music would stop several seconds after 1 or 2 minutes playing, SB receiver not finding Squeezecenter server, etc

After spending several hours looking at my Wi-Fi setup, QNAP, SB Duet controller and receiver I fixed my problems reinstalling ÿeverything and disabling DHCP in my network.

I think the problem was in part related to some problem with the Squeezecenter initial installation, but in my opinion not using DHCP does really make a difference for the Duet. It's a pitty only way to assign static IP addresses to Duet receiver and controller is to disable any DHCP server before setting them up.

I've been so busy at work during last months that I have still to explore all the features available, but being able to listen to internet radio and Magnatune collection is soooooo great ÿ

You don't need to do this. But I also had a few problems, especially when rebooting, it would get in a mess. On my router there is an option to fix the address of certain devices (Static DHCP), which is what I have done for the squeezebox, and the QNAP.
