I've just set my eyes upon the NainUniti in the latest edition and I've got to tell you its love at first sight... However, as you'll see from my signature, I've already shelled out on a Sonos system and plan to add another ZP90 to stream to a bedroom Onkyo CR-515DAB, so the flexibility of the Sonos will stop my heart ruling my head... for the time being anyway 😱)

I would however be interested to hear the thoughts of anybody who's parted with the best part of £2000 especially when it comes to matching the new Naim to an amp & speakers...

The naimuniti also includes the amplifier. (Based on the Nait 5i.)

Just add speakers.

Of course it is... got far to excited with its looks

...come to think about it, surely a version without amplification is something Naim should consider? This would enable us to add this exciting bit of kit to our existing systems or perhaps the niche for "just add speakers" is bigger than the seperates market? Still, a nice bit of kit nonetheless...

I'm amazed at what it offers for the money......considering it's Naim after all! I'll stick with my squeezebox and agree they should really offer a separate streaming solution for those with amps already but I guess Sonos, Logitech and to some degree Apple have that market pretty much cornered. Great looking piece of kit and hopefully it will spur others to make something similar.

The key with Naim is the sound, which, according to a review I just read in a French magazine, leaves the rest lying in the dust. The review even rates it above the Naim entry level Nait 5 range.

Um, I find the Uniti very attractive, but listen first, there are too few reviews of the Uniti - I've read one which was very, very positive but also hinted it might not sound 'quite' as good as seperates.

Only listening may tell...

You know what? Take a Naim CD player and amp, add on a wireless streamer, a DAB/FM tuner and a multi-input DAC, and you might just be right.

You'd be spending a lot more, but you might just be right.

Or, given that I've spent several weeks listening to the NaimUniti now, I think you might just be wrong...

I've had a Uniti for about 3 weeks no, and its everything I hoped it would be: the sound quality, the detail, the delivery, all stunning. I couldn't recommend it highly enough to anyone out there, and I'd also point out they've done a great job of the UPnP/DLNA implementation. Its very compatible with a wide range of media servers.

Can't be beaten for the price.

I have not made any statement of fact WRT sound quality in this post or any other, just expressed caution and quoted a review, so I am not 'wrong' as you so put it.

If anything I would want to purchase one if it appeals to my ears - my only reservation is that it can't play AIFFs but that's not a deal-breaker for me, FLACs will do.

Addendum: Must also add that people will buy the Uniti for different reasons but I would be primarily interested in its streaming facility, otherwise I might then ultimately and only in the medium term go the Linn DS route.

Fairly sure it will using EyeConnect on a Mac (though I don't have a NaimUniti to hand to check - give it time

), and dbPoweramps's Asset for Windows says it will. Generally, they transcode to WAV on the fly (which the NU can understand).

Sorry, of course I meant that the review to which you alluded may well be wrong.

Hi Andrew

I know auditioning is everything.....but wondered if you had a view, I currently have a Lector 7T CD Player and Graaf GM50 Amp. I am curious to know if the benefits of changing this for the NaimUniti would outweigh the sonic misgivings (If any) Whathifi gave the GM50 a fantastic review and I totally agree with it but am looking to the future for easy access to different sources

Cheers
