Hello,

I had old hifi but was very happy from the sound = >

NAD C320+CDP harman HD 740 + signal cables van den hul Mk2 + speaker cables Oehlbach silver 2 * 4mm2.

KEF Nominal impedance: 8 ohms, Amplifier requirements: 10-100W

Amplifier is gone after 15 years :) And the repair is not worth the cost around 200EUR...

I would like to replace the gone amplifier with st new. Just would like to say that was happy with the NAd Sound. I prefer to buy new with 2 y warranty then the used one.

To 300 EUR I think only few candidates appear.

denon 720 - 268EUR, onkyo 9010-250EUR, marantz pm 5005-273EUR. NAD C316 - 360EUR, Yamaha as 301 - 310EUR.

I would like to have the similiar sound I had before but to 300EUR.

Hope marantz 5005 would be good choice- it has same power like the previous NAD 2*40 (8ohms).

What do you think ? Please advise.

Thx

So you would not recommend PM 5005 as replacement of C320 ?

Marantz iz 85EUR cheaper and if it could obtain similiar sound it would be ok. Owns anybody this amplifer ?

Thx.

Hi there

Old Nad stuff is superb - I had an old 302 for the best part of 15 years and when it came to upgrade it, I didn't feel that the budget stuff at the time (3-4 years ago) came anywhere near it. I upgraded to an Arcam A28 (albeit a 2nd hand one) and found it gave me more of the same sort of sound.

Happy listening!

TBH to get the same sort of quality these days. As mentioned above. You have to spend darn site more now. I think the old 2000-6 stuff was just in a differnt league and they just make them like that any more. I rememeber buying the C320bbe for £120 in a sale (still got the receipt in the box) i think list price was £300 so i rekon with inflation your looking at a 6-700 budget now. I think you would be stepping backwards in sound qualitly if you went with to days budget gear. Have a look on the big E for the C320BBE there tends to be plenty of good examples going cheap. And they should all be young enough to not need a service....

Any way whats wrong with it? for 200 eruos i would just get it repaired mate. you will be kicking yourself i think if you didnt

having said all that the nad 3020 is really good and would bring you bang up todate with digital conections and all.

best of luck

I had Nad C 320 BEE, I liked, but I sold it because of remonte controler (inprecise volume control)

Now I have Onkyo A 9010. Good amp with built in Wolfson dac. Compared with Nad (320 BEE)it is a touch weaker at bass department, but is has more clarity, I would say is a neutral sounding amp. It is possible, that it lacks some warmth compared with Nad, but it is bring out more detail from cd whitout beeing clinical sounding. Nad it has deeper sountstage and stronger bass.

I cannot comment the rest, I think they are all very good budget amplifier.

I would go for Onkyo (because it is good + it has built in dac) or for Denon

I think Marantz has smoother sound like Onkyo, Pioneer or Denon.

OR go for used NAD 320, 325, or 326 BEE amps
