Hi Guys thought I would show you how my Hifi Music System has developed over the past 5 years since being a university student till today.

setup1A.jpg

ABOVE - Apologises for the bad picture quality. It was 5 years ago :p. This was my First set up, Cambridge Audio A500 Amplifier with the big B&W 604s3 speakers. Along with the big speakers were in total 4 subwoofers for the lowest and most power bass I have owned to date. Behind the right hand speaker is a massive black box with a cloth over it - inside layed 2 x 3000W RMS Audiobahn Reference subwoofers. So loud its what got me kicked out of my halls :p

setup2.jpg

ABOVE - This was my second setup with upgraded speakers [Monitor Audio RS8]. However the source was still varied and many options were connected to the A500.

setup3.jpg

ABOVE - This was my 3rd Setup with yet again upgraded speakers [Monitor Audio GR20s] with the same Cambridge Audio Amplifier. - As its fair to see I didnt understand Hifi fully at this point as I was more concerned with nice speakers rather than a balanced system that has a good source and amplification to get the best from the speakers :p I was a bit slow at University :)

setup4.jpg

ABOVE- Arhhhhhh Much Better. Massive upgrades occurred here. Switched to the Musical Fidelity A5 pre/power combination along with the Musical Fidelity KW DM25 DAC/Transport as my souce. Also the gorgeously musical Monitor Audio GS60s. One of the best systems I had heard at the time - however I struggled to achieve the low end weight, extention and tunefulness I so badly craved. This then after months of speaking with technical reps and emailing Hifi magazines led me to a change again.........

ABOVE - An upgrade to the Musical Fidelity KW500 Amplifier along with Mains conditioning and Chord Signature cables. Music never sounded so good. A lot of my AV equipment is under my bed - AV Amplifier, X Box 360, PS3 and Virgin Media Box.

So there you have it What Hifi Viewers - my latest setup......yet again however there are a few small tweaks I shall be making before the end of the year and I shall upload the pictures of the changes for you all then. All my equipment will be on a hifi rack with a new projector hopefully :p

Thx everyone for taking the time to look at my System Evolution - hope you enjoyed everything and thanks to What Hifi My years of reading the magazine has made me truly appreciate music the correct way in which it should be. The Tips from experts are always helpful and handy :)

This is a seriously cool post. I wish I had all the pics of my previous systems. I went nearly a year w/o one because of money/space/privacy concerns. All the ones I had in my old room when I was a deadbeat student living at home were retro-chunk glory.

All pics lost in the great laptop crash of '06 tho.
Backing files up is for wusses.

Value for money wise how do you find the gs20's???? I'm slowly feeling like they may be a contender to unseat the fb1i as my next speakers.

Wow! That's some serious kit and some serious expenditure there!!

I take it you were studying law, and are now an in-demand defence lawyer specialising in Italian-Americans in the 'waste' business!!
