Im currently borrowing a Primare I30 from a friend who is trying a few different amps. Id love to keep it but get the impression he will want it back soon think it sounds great with my Monitor Audios unfortunately cant find one at a good second hand price, but the other day i was offered a musical fidelity a3.5 which ive been told will go very well i know there will be no comparison between this and my onkyo in stereo and a massive step up but im also thinking ill notice a big step down between this and the Primare anyone had any experience? Seems a reasonable deal at £400 why im considering it. Thanks

Nice amp, works well with the MA speakers, has a Home Theatre Direct unity gain switch to make it easier to use in tandem with the Onkyo, sounds ideal.

Thanks for your reply. Would you expect the primare to be in a different league though? Seems a fairly good price at £400 was told it was 1k new.

Well, the Primare is a more expensive amplifier, so one would hope so!

But I really like the sound of the Musical Fidelity A5 and A3.5 series products, and I think it will slot into your system very well indeed.

I'm not really sure if the Primare plays in a different league... but the MF with its dual mono design its power and its current peak-to-peak delevering is not (IMHO) far at all from the Primare.

I've got the MF A308 (ex demo unit )and chose it over the Primare when auditioned them. Didn't like that you have to turn the volume knob to more than the half of its whole for it to start to sing.

400 pounds for an amplifier like this is a good price. I have the A3.5 CD and I am very happy with it.
