( I alreadyhave Naim CD 5X, XS,Flatcap 2x ) So don't want a similar sound

have thought about a musical fedilty ex`dem A1`Amp with Rega Apollo into PMC DB1 's

Any opinions - got a thousand to blow ?

plus minus £800 will get you a good used Musical Fidelity A5 on ebay ....

that will most prob be my next amp upgrade ... had one on loan and worked very well with my current system .... was sad to return it

I agree; with your budget I'd be looking at an MF A5 integrated

Have you considerd the Roksan Kandy K2 integrated as well?

My neighbour had his MF A1 refettled at Unilet and it sounds brilliant into his PMC GB1i's.I would think the DB1i's would be a great match.Still fry an egg on it though!

The A1 is a Class "A" amp, so it will sound great, but as a result it's only 36w a channel.

The A5 will have more power at 150-250wpc (cant remmember which) but it will run class A/B. Its also an older design and wont sound as good.

Personally, if you have efficient speakers, and its going to be used in a second system I would consider the A1, as it will give you a completely different sound.

I use the A1 FBP Preamp with the 550k monoblocks, and the sound is clean with exceptional grip.

From the rear casing:

"Designed in England by Musical Fidelity. Built in Taiwan"

Just in case anyone's under any misapprehension about "buying british".
