Is there any sound quality difference between a music DVD track and the same track on a music CD?

I don't mean DVD-A, but music video DVDs.

Although DVD-Video discs are technically capable of storing a soundtrack in PCM at a higher sample rate than CD (and even 48 bit), this normally isn't the case. The audio may well be encoded in AC-3 (Dolby) or DTS which use compression schemes which you can think of as being somewhat similar to MP3 in that they are lossy, not lossless like FLAC.
