more annoyance from v+ box

does anyone know if you can turn off the rather irritating ring of light on the right hand side of the box that shows when it is on standby?? The V+ box with its rubbish navigation, noisey fan, terrible remote and noisey hard drive is quite possibly the dummest bit of kit going.
