hi

I have a set of monitor audio rs1 speakers , on the rear of each speaker there is a port hole , should this have a sponge inserted in it?

Im guessing this is for airflow of some sort but I could be wrong , only I have a centre speaker which has a the same only this has a sponge in it.

sorry for the stupid question,lol

cheers

It's a bass reflex port designed to extend the bass response lower than the speaker alone could achieve if it was a sealed box of the same size. The foam bung is provided to reduce the airflow & therefore the amount of bass produced, typically when close to a wall. So whether it should be there or not is amatter of personal choice as to whether it sounds better with or without.

If it's missing altogether a rolled up sock or assortment of other materials can be used as a substitute or MA will probably supply a set for a nominal fee.
