There are a few monitor audio radius r90 speakers for sale on ebay for around £125 a pair. Has anyone used these as the main stereo speakers. I am looking at buying a pair of descrete speakers for my sonos away from my main system. I know I have asked this type question before and I got some good recommendations and help so thanks for that. Last time I decided I was going to go for the Roth audio speakers for £100.

But I have now seen these Radius R90's for half price and would like to know if they would make a decent attemp at being stereo speakers rather than a sub sat system.

Any replies would be brilliant as these speakers on ebay are ending today. So thanks in advance.

I saw those R90s on the bay. Go for them! Try them out and you will be able to sell them on for the same no problem if you aren't happy. I've only used mine as rear speakers. They look fantastic (mine are walnut too), much much better than in any photo I've seen on the net.

Thanks for the quick reply gerrard, My monitor audio rs1's are in walnut aswell so it would be a nice compliment to have the walnut r90 speakers in the other room. Do they come wiht silver or black grills as I have seen photos with both? Thanks

They're superb speakers in a sub/sat package, but without the subwoofer in that equation, you're left with speakers that are going to struggle offering much bass. That may not matter to you in that set-up, but it has to be said!

Thanks for the heads up claire, I am going to be putting them on a sidetable in the rescess at the one side of the chimny breast so I was hoping that because they wuld be close to the walls back and side that the bass may sound alittle better. I suppose I could try them and then sell them if i didn't like them.

Mine came with black grills but they look great without them. They also come with wall brackets.

Thanks gerrard, I will let you know if they are any good as fronts if I get them.

Will certainly back this up. The R90 is very light on the bass but apart from that they are great little speakers.

I auditioned a pair in "Music Matters" in Stafford this weekend. I was looking for a pair of smart good sounding speakers to go in the newly re-fitted kitchen. Well impressed with them. As Clare says they were a bit lacking in bass (sat on top of a pir of Atacama stands) but beautifully clear and a good sound stage

I have mine as part of my AV set up and do sometimes listen in stereo from my Yammy amp and they sound great. Really rich sound, never bright. Cant comment on the bass as the REL sub backs them up 🙂

Still, i've alway's thought with bass its better to produce a smaller amount tighter and more cleanly than have more but it be flabby, overblown and unrealistic.
