Sometimes I don't 'get ' a review.

-NOT THE MOST SUBTLE OF PERFORMERS

-CAN SOUND A BIT TOO HARD AND BRIGHT

I read many other (very positive) reviews of this dac and what hifi is the only magazine that mentions these problems.

Some people here have experience with this dac ?

I haven't compared it with other DACs, apart from a cheapy I bought off Amazon a while ago.

In my system - Myryad/Magnepan - it sounds clear, precise and detailed. Certainly it excels with classical. I wouldn't describe it as remotely hard, neutral maybe.

Sorry can't be of more help, mate, but, to be honest, when I did compare DACs a while ago (and bought a second hand earlier model Micromega) I didn't think there was a mile of difference between them.

That isn't being negative, by the way, I think it's a brilliant DAC because it is so detailed and uncoloured.

Weird to read such a comment against a whole bunch of enthousiastic reviews from all-around-the-world magazines... (Avail on their website). Just believe your ears Cypher. For me, I'd say: a brillant blend of analog-like smoothness and crazy detailed at the same time. Never, never Hard and Bright !

I have it and I think it is great.

I use it with Kef R100 and Arcam a-19 and they go together very well.

MyDac is last thing I would change in my system.
