Hi Willferox, I've been using the Mezzo6s for the past 2 years now. They are great speakers but I wouldn't recommend floorstanders for near field listening. I think a sub and the Mezzo bookselves will do nicely. I don't own the Mezzo sub but I've heard that its not a brilliant sub for music, I've recently been searching for a sub and the forum members kindly recommended this http://www.bkelec.com/HiFi/Sub_Woofers.htm along with REL subwoofers like the REL Strata. I personally would have gone for the BK subs as it is reasonably priced and there are a lot of admirers around.

Regards,
Shafin

Neither of those speakers are meant to be used nearfield. Of the two, I think the Mezzo 1s will cope better. They should sound more detailed than your Cambridge S70s. You may need a better amplifier than the 540A to get the best from either of the Mordaunt Short designs.
