Media player

I'm completely new to this so excuse my ignorance! I'm looking for an amp and speaker combination (not sure what to get yet, maybe Cambridge 640A, got about £500 to spend on these - opinions on this appreciated) but what I'm really confused about is media players. I was intending to dump all my music files (AAC) from I-Tunes onto an 80Gig I-pod and connect it to the amp but this isn't very elegant and I'd rather have a media player with a proper hard drive. There are a lot about for between £100 and £300 but the problem is file navigation. Does anyone know of any hard drive media players with easy file navigation (ie with display!) without having to spend £600 on the Cambridge Azur 640H? Thanks

What have you got against the iPod? The interface is excellent and coupled with a dock I would say it makes a very elegant solution (as Prof. Heinz Wolff would no doubt say.)
