Hello

I was about to put my money down on a pair of B&W 805S when my partner intervened. I think they look as sweet as they sound, but no, they are apparently obtrusive and ugly and have been veto'd. 

Can anyone please suggest something that sounds as beautiful as the 805s, which is (and I apologise for having to type this🙂 wall-mountable, smaller and preferably white.

As a compromise, I might get away with a sub to beef up the sound.

Help! Is there a solution that will make us both happy? Save me taking a paint brush to some beautiful speakers!

Thanks for the tip. They do look elegant. Unfortunately a quick search shows them to be over twice the price of the £1,600 B&Ws.

Yes im my experience they ignore your opinion anyway even if they do ask!

No wonder that (with the honourable exception of Clare) this forum is all male.

Hifi aesthetics are pretty abysmal on the whole and I have some sympathy with your wife.

There are precious few companies who give any serious thought to what this stuff looks like.

Cables that resemble hosepipes, stands that look like left-overs from a Forth rail-bridge refurb job and components that look like the designer had to go back to school as soon as the fascia was finished leaving the rest of the box to the same company that makes air-conditioning trunking and circuit breaker boxes for sub-stations !
