Marantz SR5008. Is it .1 or .2 ?

This AVR is on my list for my new HC.

As it'll most likely be with active speakers, it's really the functions and pre outs that appeal.

Looking at images of the back, it has two sub woofer outs, yet is advertised as 7.1 everywhere.

Two ow subs is something I'm thinking of.

I think to technically be 7.2 the subs would need to be stereo, although I might be wrong about that. Clearly the amp allows you to use two subs but they'll both be playing the same mono LFE channel for movies and a combined single channel for music.

Using twin subs with high-level inputs attached to your front left and right speakers would give you proper 7.2, you'd have to tweak your bass management to allow full range to the front speakers though I believe.

unbelievably, I understood all that
