I was wondering what is your opinion about Marantz pm55 special edition amp. I heard it is good with mids and highs but how is it when it comes to bass? I currently have Technics su v500m2 and I have oppurtunity to buy Marantz pm55se for a reasonable price. I see it doesnt have tone controls and Technics has but I still think it has to be better than this Technics. I have Bose 301 iii speakers and I am satisfied with them for now. What do you think, will this amp make some changes in my sound?

The PM55SE is a good amp. The LF performance of the PM-55SE is not quite as strong as its mid and HF though. The PM-55SE doesn't sound as full or as fluid as the SU-V500M2 however the PM-55E does resolve more detail and overall is tighter, faster and more dynamic sounding then the SU-V500M2.
Btw, Pioneer's truly great A-400 amplifier is also worth serious consideration.
