Hello all,

I am thinking of buying the Marantz CD6005 CD player and hoping to link it to the DAC of the NA8005 network music player (which does not have a CD player). However, the specifications for the DAC for these two units are both shown as "Multi-bit delta Sigma". Does it mean that the DAC on both the CD6005 and NA8005 are exactly the same? And I don't gain anything buy connecting the digital out from the CD player to the DAC of the network music player? Grateful for any input you may have, cheers!

I can't guarantee that all the circuits are the same but they do use the same DAC IC. the Cirrus CS4398. You have to go up to their Premium range to get a different DAC.

I personally don't think using the NA8005's DAC will improve the performance of the CD6005 - why introduce an unnecessary link in the chain?

Also considering the NA8005 is a fairly high-end device - I would use it as intended - primarily as a streamer.
