marantz CD6002 vs SA7003

Just curious, has anyone had the oppotunity to hear the sa7003. I realise that it is a sacd player also, but is there any difference in CD sound quality compared to the 6002.

The reason I ask is that I can't demo a 7003 locally (only 6002 & 5003) but am torn between this and a 5003 (from a styling perspective). My rationale is that if there is a significant increase in the SQ of the 6002 over the 5003, I'll probably order a 7003. Would just like to know if there is an additional increase in SQ from the 7003 (over the 6002) to justify the extra cost.

I haven't heard the 7003 but as far as I know 6002 and 7003 use the same DAC chip (CS4398)... and not sure transport makes much difference. Power supply - maybe?

Thanks for pointing that out chainrock. However I also notice that this self same Dac is used in the sa8003. Upon the assumption that the 8003 is far superior to a 6002 (certainly £500+ superior), what else would effect the sound quaility of CD player and therefore justify the additional cost? Can anyone explain?

I spent £540.00 on an sa7002 Ki Last year and im really pleased with it. I had an arcam A70 and the 2 went together really nice, ... just traded in for a naim 5i v2 and cd players goes beautifully with that too. Only thing is its bright from new and takes a while to run in. But now run in is really nice. Hope that helps
