? Marantz cd48........compared to 6003

Evening,

I am currently running an old Matrantz cd48 which I very much like the sound of. Three questions,

[*]Was it considered any good on release?
[*]How does in compare to the new 6003?
[*] Is the 6003 light years ahead?

Only one way to find out ... go compare.

I have a boxed PM66KI amp, which I have'nt used for a long time but for some reason I have'nt got shot of it. Unusual as I don't normally hord/collect HIFI. Close your eyes and it is instantly recognizable as a Marantz, in a good way. Sit it next to one of the newer releases of the company and you would probably hard pushed to tell which one is which. This is in contrast to some of their players. I sold the matching KI player a long long time ago, for good reason though I'm sure some will disagree.

I haven't heard the 48 but I have recently compared the CD-52 to the 6003 and there was a clear step up with the newer model.
