Hi

I've just bought a DVI to HDMI cable to plug my PowerBook into my Pana 42" HD plasma. However, the screen cuts off the very bottom (so I lose the bottom of the Dock - but that's not a problem) and the very top so I can't access the top menu bar. It doesn't seem to be a question of resolution as it does this no matter what I set it to.

If I plug it into my LG 22" LCD it's fine so I'm thinking it's something to do with the TV but can't find any relavent adjustments...

Any ideas ?

I've never connected a computer to my plasma, so this may be completely wrong but I wonder if you have "picture overscan" turned on?

What output resolution are you using? Mac monitors tend to have a 16:10 aspect ratio, rather than 16:9.

My Mac Mini used to be fine with a Samsung LCD but I needed to fiddle when I bought my Panasonic plasma.

The main variables seemed to be:
  • VGA and HDMI outputs offered different resolutions
  • Overscan on or off
  • Panasonic set-up menu: vertical and horizontal shift.

Thanks guys...

Having done a bit of Googling I reckon it is indeed a case of turning of the 'overscan'. Will give that a try after work tonight and report back...

Yes - turning overscan off did the trick! The picture doesn't fill the entire screen now but it's close enough and as I won't be watching movies this way it isn't really a problem.
