Hi,

My system is foobar2000 -> WASAPI -> dacmagic -> Sansui AU-X711 -> B&W DM1200 speakers

I want to replace my speakers with something more modern, I also think that the low mids on my B&W's sound ovely exagerated and voices sound muffled.

Characteristics I'm looking for:

- Open, airy, dynamic speakers

My amp is a monster, and isn't afraid of driving hard to drive speakers.

Models I'm currently looking at:

- Monitor Audio Bronze BX2, Tannoy Mercury V1

Feel free to suggest other models, that's why I'm here. The price of the Monitor Audio's is my maximum, so please consider that.

The BX2's are a great choice and sound very clean and neutral, have a look at the B&W 686's also or maybe even the MS Aviano 1XR.

All great bookshelf speakers imho.

If you want a clean sound, the B&W 686s would be the wrong choice. I had a pair briefly and, although they do some things well for their size, they do lack in clarity. Much better for the money are the Mordaunt-Short Aviano 1XR or the Dali Lektor 2s (the latter of which I suspect might work well with Sansui amplification.)
