I have managed to loan this item from today until Tuesday 25 May from Sevenoakes. This should give me ample time to see if it makes any difference when comparing CDs against Napster files. My dealer reckons I will notice it more when I remove it from the system at the end of the trial.

Cheaper than Bi-amping I suppose!

and your dealer may be right.

A-B comparison is not accurate imo. I would leave it in the system for a week or two, take it out for a day and put it back in again. When I had a cyrus system (long while ago now) I thought it did improve the amp but not CD player.

To my ears it depends what amp your adding it to?

I had mine on the pre, but am trying it on the cd player for a bit, to see if it improves it at all.

Thaiman, what amp did you have yours on?

I have it playing right now....

The kids are at school and my wife is at work - bliss. Early days to comment though.

When I bought my Cyrus 8XPd, I listened to it with and without the PSX-R. The difference was significant, albeit through revealing Vienna Acoustics speakers. There was greater bass weight and scale, as well as improved clarity.

I have read that certain components respond better to the PSX-R than others, but in terms of the amp, it is powering the pre section so effectively it has split the integrated into a pre-power.

Had mine on the 8vs2 and it made a big difference, a bit less on the pre. Trying to find if it makes a big difference on the cd player. I am sure one of the guys who works in the shops from the forum here, said it makes a big difference on the player too.
