Linux music software

Hi All,

I'm getting my first Linux (Ubuntu) based netbook and wonder if there are any good music player software for it?

Any recomendations?

I haven't used it personally, but a Linux mad friend uses Amarok, and he likes it.

As Binman said , I also have friend using Amarok happiliy, Foobar is possible but if you search internet it's does appear a bit tricky to get working so unless you like a challenge I guess it's Amarok .

Don't forget that Spotify works perfectly on Ubuntu 9.10.

Just install Wine: sudo apt-get install wine

Then run: "padsp winecfg" without the quotes, and select OSS driver in the Audio tab of the Wine config utility, and select "Emulation" in the drop down menu. Don't check the box for "Driver Emulation" at the bottom.

Then download Spotify for Windows from their website and double click it to install. You'll find it in Applications>Wine>Programs in the main menu after you've installed. (Top left of screen.) You can also drag the icon to the desktop or either panel to create a direct shortcut.

As for music players you are really spoilt for choice; there's Rhythmbox (already installed), Amarok, Songbird, Banshee, Audacious and many more.

I personally like Rhythmbox for it's simple layout, which is kind of like iTunes with browser columns for Genre, Artist and Albums.
