linn ds with itunes or kinsky

Hi to all

my system linn ds majik / krell kav-300I / kef reference 2.2

i have all my music on a laptop that i use only for music it is all in wav

if i open itunes it says i can play the music on my pc or main room ds airport express

but if i use kinsky it sounds louder even through the amp is left at the same level

what i want to know

if i use itunes with out kinsky is it using my ds or just going throught it

or do i have to use kinsky to get the ds to do it job

or are they both doing the same

i have done a sound test and to me

if i use the kinsky it sounds better then if i use itunes

so what i really wanted to know is does it use the ds when i use the itunes as the control

or just go throught it with out using it

on the ds display it says aux and no tracks names come up

but with the kinsky all the track info comes up

I'm not really in my comfort zone talking about all things IT....but my understanding is the bit that "may" effect the sound, is the version of the software that it runs on ie. Cara or Devaar.

Kinsky is purely a control mechanism (like Songbook or Chorus). My music is ripped in Flac onto a RipNas and I have no knowledge of iTunes, as I don't use it.
