Laserdisc on a HDTV?

I've got a collection of 80 odd laserdiscs in a box stored away since I moved over to DVD and now bluray. Does anyone still use them and what is the quality like on an HDTV? Is it worth me getting another player or does the quality look too ropey these days?

We are seting one up at the weekend so will see first hand. I dont hold out much hope but through an amp scaled to 1080 it might look quite good. I will let you know.
