Would you recommend a pure evoke flow for the kitchen? I have an old yamaha midi system that has seen better days

All depends what you want in your kitchen. If you've got good wi-fi reception in there and fancy access to a world of internet radio while you cook, plus DAB radio to boot, it's a superb option at the money.

But it obviously won't spin CDs like your old Yamaha, and - as a mono radio (albeit one that offers option of additional speaker to enable stereo listening) - isn't a match for a bigger system.
