I've seen one of these pop up on ebay for a very good price. I was wondering whether this would be better than my current amp which is a cambridge audio 340, find the sound a bit on the clinical side of things, especially after listening to the likes of technics and kenwood amps.

You'd be better off, if you're looking for something on the more musical side, to go back a decade or two and pick up a Sansui AU-217 or 317 amp. You can usually get these for good money, build inside is excellent, often to be had in good condition or better (my 217 came near mint, serviced and got it delivered post-auction all in for £33). Sound quality is excellent - not warm or muddy or sharp or clinical, just the kind of thing you'll listen to for hours. I did with mine and having been made redundant last year I had a lot of time with it.

If you're on a limited budget, then it's very highly recommended.
