I got this same set PM`d at £665 v Sound & Vision.

It was delivered this morning. Ive got to hide it and break the news gently to my wife. She`s still mad about the size of the box the Harman Kardon HS250 was delivered in last Saturday!

Even less impressed with the "speakers on them bloody long poles that don`t match the furniture"

Its quite a big box and you have to keep it upright - just in case you didn`t know.

Ring your chosen JL store with details of the TV and store that you want JL to PM.

The store you are looking for JL to PM must have it in stock and in the showroom on view for demo. JL will not entertain retailers that are online only and will not consider a store which doesn`t physically hold the TV in stock at the premises.

Once you have your PM ref number you make the purchase via a JL store - this cannot be done via JL Direct, has to be a store.

Just measured the box - its 29 (H) x 41 (W) x 13 (D) inches

cheers bf1!

just looked up the specs on my car and i am pretty sure it will fit might be at a slant rather than perfectly upright but not too much of a slant 🙂

will get the ole tape measure out tonight and check

Isn't it because of the weight of the plasma panel on large screens (LCDs don't have this issue)? So putting it on an unsupported slant may be worse than flat? Just guessing and it might even be an urban myth for all I know!

Its not a myth as far as I know. Was told by several shops of the need to transport upright. Watched it being delivered and it was upright!

i have checked and it should fit as i suggested or even better it should fit across the back seats (will cusion with coats etc) although that means not being able to see out the rear mirror, this will be ok for the short(ish) hop home, cheers for the dimensions of the box once more!

am also getting a sagem PVR at the same time....🙂

for a fact it is ok to lay them flat for short periods of time maybe less than an hour... if you have to lay it flat for longer than 1 hour then its best to leave it upright after transport for an hour or two

I believe it's something to do with the gases in the cells.

I do know of one company who do occassionally transport them laid down but considering all the manufacturers say no, I wouldn't risk it as its unlikely they'd honour a warranty if broken which could leave you with a very expenisve talking piece.

It would be far cheaper to pay someone to deliver it or hire a van for the day.

the manual (just downloaded) does state to transport upright only...

i have measure up and it should fit all boxed up....if it comes to it i could de box and wrap the screen in soft materials and it will fit fine, am saving £60 by collecting and getting it quicker and also having the morning out and around Marlow which is a good trade off with the wife 🙂

i will let everyone know how i got transporting the screen and my thoughts of it in operation next week 🙂

I was wanting to know this aswell.

Anyone?

Hi, Sorry I'm a bit late to this thread.

I've just got a price match on the new 37" Panasonic plasma through John Lewis for £629, with free delivery and the 5 year warranty. They price matched Sound and Vision at Bolton.

Just had to go into my local store with the details of the lower price and where from. JL did the rest. It now is a nation wide search so you don't have to worry about being close to a store.

Hope this helps!

In case there's still any confusion on this, I tried (unsuccessfully) 3 times to get a price match but I do know the criteria which are as follows:

1. You must have seen the product on display, with a price tag & it must be in stock & available to take away, i.e. it can't be a last display model on special offer
2. You need to then phone your nearest JL store which can be anyway in the country.
3. You need to tell them the specific model, price & details of the store you have seen the item
4. They will take up to 5 working days to investigate & call you back to say if it has been price matched
5. Apparently at this point they will give you a price match no. which you can take into store, i.e. not John Lewis Direct (online store)
6. You will get a 5 year warranty on all LCD / plasmas

Finally, good luck - you may need it in some cases!!

YES. You do still get the warranty.

I think they are trialing an 8 mile radius price match in Scotland, but it is still national for the english stores... so strike while the iron is hot!! I have just got back from bluewater having started an underpricing proceedure against EmpireDirect in Perivale and Sound and Vision in Bolton. Hopefully I will be getting a TH42PX80B for either £709 or £729 depending on which one they get hold of. And of course ther is that 5 year warranty which makes it all worth the extra effort!

Do you think these stores get tired of constant calls from John Lewis asking what their prices are?
