Is this potentially a good set up? Any suggestions?

Hi everyone

Im pretty new to this, so excuse my potential ignorance. I am looking to set up a home cinema system. Currently I have a 40" Samsung LED TV with a PS3 and a mini mac running through it. The PS3 will be used for blu rays and gaming, and the mini mac has all of my music on it. I will be adding an HD Satellite box as a TV source.

So now you know what i have got...this is what i´m potentially looking at.

Speakers wise i want to use B&W 684 theatre, starting with just the fronts and then adding the other speakers when money allows.

I went into my local hi-fi specialist (Hi-fi Klubben...i live in Norway) and as a receiver the guy at the shop suggested the Denon AVR-3311 to power the system.

Is this a good receiver? Is it well matched the speaker set-up that I want to run? Is there any others i should consider for similar money or less?

Finally he suggested Van Der Hul CS cables...again what are these like? Anything else worth considering for similar price or less? (About 14 pound a meter)

On a side note if I am honest I am a bit of a tart and not only does the equipment have to work well but it has to look good too.

Sorry if its all a bit long winded, but any help, advice or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Loki

Cant go wrong with the Monitor Audio RX6 speakers. and you might be able to score a Pioneer VSX-LX52 which would work out cheaper than your 684 and Denon AVR-3311.

Great speakers with real wood vaneer.

UK Prices

RX6= You can get for about 700.00 cash

Pioneer VSX-LX52 can be had for £600.00

That would leave money for a nice 5.1, but not sure about prices over there

Unless you need 3D then I dont know as not interested from my own experience of home TV's IMO

I currently have the Denon 4308 and 684 surround package and i must say that the sound is superb and they look good to, but as i have been told before so i will pass it on, have a listen and see what YOU think because thats all that matters.

I like The Denon B&W Combo, they suite each other well IMO
