I have somw Kef KHT 5005 speakers and have just ordered an Onkyo TX-SR605, the amp is apparantly 140W and the speakers are 100W. Should my spaekers be more powerful than my amp or vice versa? Do I have a problem?
Common question and the answer is that the two only describe peak characteristics. In general the more powerful the amp the more easily it drives the speakers. You rarely if ever use all the power. A powerful amp is less likely to harm the speakers than a weak one as it is less susceptible to clipping, having extra power to hand if needed.
