i have stopped buying cd's and primarily download flac files as my main music source, in addition i have returned to buying vinyl. subsequently, i am currently using an arcam rdock to connect my ipod classic to my marantz amp.

i am now looking to get the best sound from my files via ipod, can i get a better sound by connecting the rdock via a cambridge audio dacmagic? or should i be looking at another solution for optimum sound?

advice welcome!

Well, Your Arcam rDock doesn't have a digital output, do it? So, you can not use it with the DAC Magic, that is, as it's name says a digital to analog converter.

If you have uncompressed files in your ipod, you can get the Wadia Digital Transport to get the raw digital data from the ipod and then buy a DAC to decode it and connect it to the amplifier.

But I think that's going to be too expensive... regarding the rest of your equipment. I mean, that the benefits you'll obtain from the invest are not worth it. (Sorry, my English is bad 😛 )...
