Hi there, newbie here and I have to admit, I know nothing! My brother wants a new micro system for his 18th birthday with an ipod dock, DAB radio and CD player. I've found a few within my price range (about £150) but I want to get the one with the best sound, whereas I'm totally seduced by looks! So I need you guys to advise me which is going to have the best quality sound out of these, or if you know of any others?

I'd go for the Onkyo: it's a cracking piece of kit for the money, and the iPod dock is excellent. We gave it 5 stars back in September.

Alternatively, you could give him £146 plus a magazine and let him consider more high quality alternatives too

The man's got a budget and wants to stick within it. Nothing wrong with that

Indeed, infact the Onkyo is coming over budget so I'll have to think about one of the others.
