iphone skips during album first tracks?

Does anyone else notice their iphone skipping during the first tracks of some albums? there are 3 on mine where it does it, but the cds ripped from are mint, and it doesn't happen when played through itunes.

i think it does it on one non first track too.

annoying. Have you tried re-formatting your device? (Not sure you can do that with an iPhone without deleting all your phone details, tho).

My iPod classic (30gb video) plays odd tricks - it hides songs and randomly joins up play lists - I think it's due a similar re-boot!

Mine is fine. I would re-install the software. All of the phone settings are backed up on iTunes so they will be re-installed as well.

I'll give reinstalling ago, but I've had it less than a month so it shouldn't need fixing already.

I've had mine about two months, and no problems with it. No skipping that I've noticed. You definitely shouldn't be having problems so soon. If reinstalling the software doesn't work, I'd take it back.

I tried reinstalling last night and it's not solved it. This morning I did notice that it's not all tracks -only all the ones I tried yesterday! Also whilst it's very faint I think I heard it on my old iPod too (easy to miss though). If reripping doesn't work then I'll take it back

Could it be your computer/software?

I doubt it. Some were ripped pre W7 and some after. Unless it's the new os causing problems; but I would expect it to
affect all in that case.

I'm 99% crtain it doesn't happen on the iPod or computer but will still try a few
CDs reripped win error correction on to make sure.

As an aside I lernt the 'back up' doesn't include emails which is a little annoying but nothing major (this time)

Did you download the latest firmware from iTunes?

when i did the restore last night it downloaded 3.1.2 which is what i had before i think. just reripping now, but triple checked some tracks again and they play fine on the laptop and ipod video (is that the 5th gen?)

Well I re-ripped some offending cd's last night, removed the originals from the iphone and then synced the new ones on. This seems to have solved the problembut:

- Why were they skipping in the first place when:
The computer didnt
The Ipod didn't

- Why did re-ripping (with error correction on) solve it, even though at least 3 of the 4 were ripped before even being played (or after one play) so were mint condition.

- Will it happen again?

My brother had excectly the same problem, exactly. So you are not the only one. I agree with this being somewhat strange, seing as the original tracks were mint, recorded skip free, transfered digitally. So when they ended up skipping, you must deduce that the transfer itself must be to blame. Its the only possible explanation

I've had the exact same problem on my iPod Video 80GB (5.5G). It's since passed it's warranty period and it does it rather infrequently and intermittently. But, I've just got a new iPod Touch 64GB as a Christmas present so I'm hoping it's not the source files but I'll let you know if it happens on my new iTouch and if I'm able to resolve it and if so how. Cheers.
